Role overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Backend Engineer with strong experience in Golang and Python to join our development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend systems that support our applications and services. You will work closely with front-end developers, product managers, and DevOps engineers to deliver high-performance, secure, and reliable software solutions.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in backend development, with a strong focus on Golang , SQL databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) , GraphQL APIs , and search technologies like Elasticsearch . You should be comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the ability to plan and manage your own backlog independently.
This is a hands-on engineering role that requires a blend of technical excellence, proactive problem-solving, and clear communication.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Golang and Python.
- Manage and optimise databases, including MySQL/PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Implement and maintain GraphQL servers to facilitate efficient data querying and manipulation.
- Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Ensure the security, performance, and responsiveness of applications.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to the best practices and coding standards of golang.
- Participate in code reviews and product management and provide constructive feedback.
- Autonomously maintaining a backlog and the ability to plan efficiently and effectively is a must.
Technical Requirements
- Strong proficiency with Golang programming language and maintaining multiple workspaces is a must.
- Strong proficiency in managing MySQL/PostgreSQL databases and writing efficient SQL queries is a must
- Experience with Elasticsearch and an understanding of search engine technologies is a must.
- Experience with GraphQL server implementation and API development in Golang is a must.
- Understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
- Experience with containerisation technologies like Docker, Docker Compose and Kubernetes.
- Experience with cloud services and infrastructure management, such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Experience with testing frameworks and writing unit and integration tests.
