About Briter
Briter is a business intelligence and research company making data on innovation and investment in underserved markets more visible, usable, and human. Our flagship platform, Briter Intelligence , along with its derivative tools, is used by leading global institutions, funds, and corporations to design investment strategies, policy briefs, and business expansion. We have grown to build a portfolio of over 100 top-tier clients ranging from the World Bank to Amazon, Boston Consulting Group, and the Gates Foundation, and count thousands of users worldwide using our platforms and downloading our publications.
Briter is a leading business intelligence and research company focused on innovation and investment ecosystems across emerging markets. From climatetech to fintech, agtech to health, and deep dives into gender gaps and funding ecosystems, we work across a wide range of sectors to deliver actionable insights and advisory services to leading organisations and clients, such as the Gates Foundation, the World Bank, CGIAR, the EU Commission, and more. Our work spans across Africa, our primary focus, and increasingly reaches into Latin America and Asia, powered by a growing, international team of curious and data-driven professionals.
We’re now looking for a Senior Research Associate to join our team. This is a high-paced, knowledge-driven, senior-level role for someone who combines analytical rigour, strong writing, contextual understanding, analytical skills, clear communication, and a sharp eye for detail. You will lead a range of client-facing research and consulting projects, manage cross-functional teams, and help produce data-backed insights that guide analysis and decision-making for investors, development partners, and corporates globally.
If you're motivated by uncovering insights that shape real-world decisions, curious about how innovation ecosystems grow and shift, and eager to lead research that spans sectors and geographies, we would love to hear from you.
Key responsibilities
- Writing and analysis : Craft and edit clear, compelling, industry-quality written and visual reports grounded in data analysis (e.g., Excel). Translate complex findings into actionable insights and thought leadership.
- Research and Development: Contribute to identifying and exploring new research areas and innovative angles across sectors and markets. Drive the development of original studies that expand our knowledge base and inform strategic decision-making.
- Project execution and management : Your role will be a key point of reference in project execution and both flagship and client work. This means the role will split between leading end-to-end research and advisory work delivery across multiple target research areas, and being part of already structured teams.
- Client management : Relationships with clients are key. This role will involve both leading and supporting the management of clients and partners, including DFIs, foundations, investors, and corporates. As part of this, quality assurance, punctuality, and professionalism are critical.
- Research methods : A core aspect of the research and intelligence work Briter carries out is founded upon two pillars: 1) strong methodological frameworks and 2) fieldwork / primary and desk research. Your role will involve ensuring both pillars are maintained and consistent, but also updated with new learnings.
- Data analytics : Briter works with large and complex datasets. Your role is expected to be able to manage and analyse data, and draw out key insights and findings.
- Team coordination : Your role will involve working closely across departments. You will be expected to supervise and train analysts, as well as coordinate with Marketing, Product, and the Data & Insights team. You are expected to maintain quality and accountability across concurrent projects.
- Presentations and public engagement: Lead the delivery of key findings through compelling presentations tailored to internal and external audiences. Represent the organisation in workshops, stakeholder interviews, and panel discussions at industry events. Confidently communicate insights, facilitate dialogue, and strengthen our voice in the broader ecosystem.
Requirements

- Experience working with both the private and public sectors, with organisations such as corporates, investors, DFIs, development agencies, philanthropic foundations, or multilateral organisations
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-country, multi-stakeholder research or advisory projects.
- Proven ability to write clearly and strategically for external audiences (publications, donor reports, or policy briefs) and communicate clearly with the client and back to your direct reports.
- Ability to work with large datasets and analyse data through tools such as Excel is required.
- Strong knowledge of African and/or Asian markets and development themes; familiarity with Latin America.
- Able to manage competing deadlines, navigate ambiguity, and take ownership of delivery
- Comfortable with data and evidence-based work; not afraid to explore unknown territories and investigate new topics and ideas
- Fluency in an additional language (such as French, Spanish, Mandarin, Portuguese, Arabic) is an advantage.
