About African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank)
Afreximbank is a pan-African multilateral development finance institution (DFI) established to finance, facilitate, and promote intra- and extra-African trade. Formally launched in 1993 in Abuja, Nigeria, the bank has grown into a continental behemoth that actively drives Africa's structural economic transformation. Beyond traditional trade finance and credit lines, Afreximbank is the powerhouse behind some of the continent's most transformative macroeconomic infrastructure projects. This includes the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) to facilitate cross-border local currency payments, the MANSA due-diligence repository, and the Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA).
