About Global Fund for Coral Reefs
The Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR) serves as an implementation vehicle for the Global Biodiversity Framework and SDG 14, Life Below Water. It strengthens the resilience of coastal reef ecosystems, communities, and economies by mobilizing public and private capital to scale sustainable businesses and financial solutions. Through catalytic grants and investments, the GFCR supports market based initiatives in over 20 developing countries, including wastewater treatment and recycling, coral reef insurance, sustainable aquaculture and agriculture, ecotourism, and mechanisms that expand sustainable finance for marine protected areas.
