Reducing Gender Gaps in Latin America's Mobile Workforce Economy

This report, produced in partnership with Alive Ventures, examines how gender dynamics shape women's participation, retention and progression across distributed, field-based and mobile labour systems in Latin America, with a particular focus on Colombia and Peru. Drawing on secondary research and qualitative interviews with companies, investors and technical training institutions, we identify ten structural patterns through which gender inequality is reproduced in mobile workforce systems — and set out practical recommendations for addressing them at the operational level.

The findings are paired with the Gender-Smart Mobile Workforce Toolkit , a hands-on implementation resource designed to help companies move from diagnosis to action. Whether you are auditing your recruitment language, mapping certified female talent in your operating geography, or building the case for field infrastructure investment, the toolkit gives you the tools to act on what the research surfaces.

Download the report if you are building, investing in or supporting companies that depend on a distributed workforce — across logistics, distributed energy, agricultural value chains, infrastructure services or community-level delivery. The recommendations are designed for operations teams, investors conducting due diligence and ecosystem partners ready to move beyond participation metrics toward genuine workforce redesign.
