Seeds of Impact (2nd Edition): a directory of agrifood companies driving impact in Africa
'Seeds of Impact' is an impact directory for agtech and agrifood innovators in Africa. This second edition expands the directory with 21 new company profiles, bringing together 31 ventures that are actively tracking and using impact data as part of how they run their businesses. Built on self-reported data and founder interviews from across the continent, it offers a practical snapshot of how impact measurement is evolving inside African agtech and agrifood businesses, and why it matters for both performance and sustainability.
The directory's framework, developed with ISF Advisors and informed by consultations with founders and funders, groups impact into three core areas: farmer and client outcomes, climate and land use, and gender and employment. Across these areas, innovators are tracking tangible changes in income, productivity, land management, and workforce composition, showing how impact awareness shapes product design, delivery, and growth.
Impact data in agtech is still uneven, largely self-reported, and difficult to compare. That does not make it irrelevant. It reflects a sector where better ways of measuring and using impact are still being developed, and where founders are increasingly collecting data to understand what works and how to scale. Some featured companies have robust data systems in place; others are still building them. Both are part of the story.
Beyond profiling individual ventures, the AgBase Impact Directory contributes a practical lens on how African agtech is learning to measure what matters, linking technology, business performance, and sustainability on the path toward scalable impact.
